Impulskontrolle
Impulskontrolle has a long record of performances on the German visuals scene. His visuals explore the dusty and old look of 8mm in combination with more modern graphics.
Impulskontrolle came to existance in 1999 as a collaboration of several guys being engaged in video, graphic design and music after a request from a local club owner and common friend in. As it quickly turned out, making live visuals was way more than just a nice way to spend weekend’s evenings. Evolving over different stages of technical possibilities while boiling down to an oscillating 1 to 3 members, Impulskontrolle has gained large recognition in the German vj-scene over the years while also broadening it’s activities, engaging in (live) video for concerts, events and theatre productions.
A description of Urs Basteck’s visual approach would contain “dirty” and “design”. With a keen eye for overall composition he interweaves strong graphical elements and typography with the grain and texture of 8mm films and other self-made footage, exploring the land of gritty beauty.
